Loose Motion or Diarrhoea or Dast:
Loose motion (diarrhoea or dast) is a common health problem which affects people of all age group. In loose motions, patient tends to defecate the stool- loose and watery- frequently. Watery bowel movements are very common especially in children; it may cause loss of water and minerals from the body, weakness, stomach pain and loss of appetite. As a thumb rule one should not take any medication for loose motion unless they are severe. These loose motions can be treated by some natural remedies effectively if not having any serious problem.
Main symptom of Diarrhoea is abnormally loose or watery loose motion. Other symptoms of diarrhoea are loss of appetite, vomiting, nausea, stomach pain, abdominal cramps and in some cases fever also. The frequency of loose motion may vary in different cases. Normally, it is cured within one or two days but in some cases, it may be persistent or chronic.
Main cause of diarrhoea or loose motion (dast) is bacterial or viral infection. Other causes are food poisoning, malnutrition, allergy to certain food, laxative abuse, due to certain diseases and medication, hyperthyroidism, radiation or chemo therapy, intestinal parasites and certain intestinal diseases.
Loose motion or diarrhoea is the most common problem for which the people visits to doctor for treatment, especially among children. There are three forms of loose motion- acute, persistent and chronic. Chronic diarrhoea lasts longer more than 2-4 weeks and it may cause to lose the control of bowels. In this condition, you should contact your doctor for treatment. But in most of the cases of loose motion (dast), problem is not so serious and there is no need to run to doctor each and every time. You can treat it at home by applying some simple natural remedy which has no side effect.
Natural Remedies to Cure Loose Motion:
1.Ginger juice cures Loose Motion:
Ginger (adrak) is a wonderful spice which has many medicinal properties. If you are suffering from watery loose motion (dast), take half cup hot (full boiled) water and add one spoon ginger juice in it and drink as much hot as you can. Repeat it every one hour; though it is simple but more effective natural remedy that controls watery loose motion very speedily.
2. Black Chebulic Myrobalan (Chhoti Harad):
Chebulic Myrobalan (chhoti harad or kali harad) is a wonderful herb that is known for its medicinal uses. To control any type of diarrhoea or loose motion, use of black Chebulic Myrobalan (kali harad) & Indian gooseberry (amla) is a simple but most noteworthy natural remedy.
For curing loose motion, take one chhoti Harad (black Chebulic Myrobalan) and chew it only like a toffee; your loose motion will be controlled immediately.
If it is not controlled, apply it with Indian gooseberry (amla):-
- Take 10 gm chhoti Harad and 20 gm dry Amla chunks and grind them to make fine powder.
- Take 1 gm of this powder with honey or directly with water twice a day.
- You will get complete relief in 3-4 dosages. It is most effective simple remedy which has no side effect.
3. Nutmeg (Jaiphal) Cures Loose Motion :
Nutmeg (jaiphal) is an important spice that is full of health benefits. It is also widely used as natural medicine to control loose motion. Take a nutmeg (jaiphal) and rub it with some water on a clean and rough surface. It became brownish paste; collect the paste in a spoon and consume with a cup of water. This natural remedy is completely safe; you can even use it on small children. While applying on children, you should take care about the dosage and manage according to age of the child.
4. Mint Leaves for Loose Motion:
Mint leaf or pudina is an herb that is used in many traditional remedies to cure different diseases. It (pudina) has an anti-bacterial property and tested as a good natural remedy to control loose motion due to indigestion (badhajmi).
Mint leaves 1 tbsp (Pudina Patti)
Lemon juice 1 tbsp (Nimbu ka Ras)
Honey 1 tbsp (Shahad)
- Take few mint leaves (Pudina) and extract the juice of it.
- To extract the juice, simply crush the leaves thoroughly and sieve the pulp with the help of a thin cloth.
- Now put 1 tbsp of lemon juice, 1 tbsp honey (shahad) and 1 tbsp of mint leaves juice (pudina ras) in a cup and mix them well.
- Then consume the mixture and repeat it for 2-3 days regularly.
5. Dry Coriander Powder for Diarrhoea:
Coriander (dhania) has cooling properties; it can control even bloody or tarry stool without medication. If blood comes with stool in dysentery, take 10 gm dry coriander Powder & 10 gm mishri and mix it into half cup of water. Now drink it to control blood in stool; you will get relief in a day but repeat the dosage for 3-5 days.
6. Raw Papaya for Loose Motion:
Papaya (papita) is an excellent fruit that is full of health benefits whether it is in raw form or ripe. Raw papaya soup is found to be an effective natural remedy to treat loose motion and stomach cramps (pet me marod).
- For making raw papaya (kachcha papita) soup, take a small size of raw papaya.
- Peel the papaya and remove the seeds.
- Then grate it with the help of grater and boil into 3 cups of water for 10 minutes.
- Strain into a cup and drink lukewarm thrice a day.
- Repeat the dosage for 2-3 days or till getting complete relief from loose motion.
7. Fenugreek Seeds or Methi:
Fenugreek seeds (methi dana) are also an excellent natural remedy to control loose motion. Grind some fenugreek seeds into mixer to make fine powder. Take 1 tea spoon of this powder and dissolve it into a glass of water; drink it in the morning on an empty stomach. With a regular use of 2-3 days, you will get relief from loose motion completely.
8. Bitter Gourd Juice to Cure Diarrhoea:
Bitter gourd (karela) is a type of vegetable. Its juice is a good natural medicine to control loose motion, though it is bitter in taste. Take one bitter gourd (karela) and extract its juice with the help of juicer. Or cut it into small pieces and grind it into mixer. Then extract the juice with the help of cotton cloth into a cup and drink it to stop loose motion. Take this juice two times in a day and continue till required.
9. Rind of Pomegranate:
Pomegranate (anar) is a wonderful fruit which is used to cure various diseases. Even its rind (peel) is also useful. Dry rind (peel) of Pomegranate (anar) is one of the most effective natural remedy against loose motion. Dry the rind of pomegranate in shade and keep into a jar for use whenever it needs. Boil the 3-4 pieces of this dry rind of pomegranate (anar ke chhilke) in a cup of water without covering the lid of pan; boil it till it reduced to half cup. Let it to be cool, sieve it into a cup and add some candy sugar (mishri) and consume it to stop loose motion.
10. Black Tea for Loose Motion:
Drinking Strong black tea (kali chai) with 3-4 drops of lemon (nimbu) juice and a pinch of black salt (kala namak) but without sugar. It is also an amazing natural remedy to stop loose motion (dast).
11. Bottle Gourd (Lauki) Juice:
Bottle gourd juice (lauki ka ras) is an excellent natural remedy for the people suffering from loose motion or diarrhoea (dast). It helps to prevent the body from getting dehydrated.
For making juice of bottle gourd (lauki), take a fresh bottle gourd, peel it and cut into small vertical pieces. And then extract the juice with the help of juicer. If you have not juicer, cut the bottle gourd in small pieces and put into blender to mash thoroughly. Or you can grate the bottle gourd and squeeze out the juice with a help of thin cloth. Drink one cup juice twice a day.
12. Dry Ginger Powder for Loose Motion:
Dry ginger (sonth) and curd (dahi) both are good for stomach problems. Combination of dry ginger (sonth) powder and curd controls loose motion in a single dosage.
Take ¼ tbsp of dry ginger powder (sonth powder) and 1 tbsp curd, mix it and consume it to stop loose motion. If not controlled, take one more dosage after 2-3 hours. Loose motion will be cured definitely. This is an amazing natural remedy that gives result in a single dosage.
13. Dry Coriander Powder:
If you have habit of defecation (going to toilet) after eating food every time, take 2 gm of dry coriander powder (sookha dhania) by adding a pinch of black salt (kala namak) with little water after meal. Take equal amount of fennel seeds and candy sugar or mishri; roast fennel seeds (saunf) slightly and make fine powder of both the ingredients. Consume two tea spoon of this powder four times a day with a little amount of water (2-3 spoons).
15. Chebulic Myrobalan with Piper Longum:
Black Chebulic Myrobalan (kali harad or chhoti harad) with Piper Longum (pippali) is also an excellent natural remedy to control dysentery naturally without any medication.
Black Chebulic Myrobalan 10 gm (Kali Harad)
Piper Longum 10 gm (Pippli)
- Grind Piper Longum (pippli) and black Chebulic Myrobalan (chhoti Harad) to make fine powder.
- Consume 1 gm of this powder after lunch and dinner with water to control dysentery.
16. Green Coriander for Diarrhoea:
To get relief in loose motion due to heat, green coriander leaves’ natural remedy is the best. Take 100 gm of coriander leaves (hara dhania), grind it after cleaning with water. Then add one cup of water and dissolve the coriander leaves into it. Now, drink it and repeat for 2-3 times in a day. It controls loose motion immediately but better to continue for 2-3 days.
