Teeth whitening are part of oral hygiene for removal of dental plaque and tartar from teeth to prevent cavities, gingivitis, gum disease, and tooth decay. Tooth decay is the common problem of human beings and the main reason of this is not cleaning your teeth properly. To control tooth decay, we have to follow proper hygiene. If you are facing this problem, we are giving here some simple natural remedies teeth cleaning, whitening and controlling bad breath.
Teeth Whitening Remedies:
1. Bay Leaf for Teeth Whitening:
To clean the yellow and black layer of teeth, grind 50 gm of Bay Leaf (Tejpatta in Hindi) to make fine powder. Keep it into a jar and use it as tooth powder once in three days. Bay leaf powder not only cleans teeth but also make them luminous.
2. Turmeric & Alum for Teeth:
Turmeric and alum, both are known for its antiseptic properties. Take 10 gm turmeric powder (Haldi) and 5 gm roasted Alum (Fitkari) and grind them to make powder. Use this powder for teeth cleaning twice a day- morning and before going to bed at night. It will clean bad enamel of your teeth and whitened them.
Moreover, you can use alum (fitkari) for gargles too. Take one cup water and dip one piece of alum. After 30 seconds remove the alum and make gargles with this water. It is not only very good for oral hygiene but also effective in toothache and bad breath. (1)
3. Lemon for Teeth Whitening:
For cleaning and whitening of teeth, use rock salt powder with lemon juice. Simply, mix 4-5 drops of lemon juice in half spoon rock salt (sendha namak) powder and rub gently on teeth and gums. Leave it for five minutes and after that brush your teeth with toothpaste.
Or, you can use the peel of lemon for whitening your teeth. Don’t throw the peel of lemon after use; dry them in sunlight and store into a jar after grinding. Use a pinch of this powder with some rock salt and clean your teeth; it also controls bad breath.
(Caution: Lemon is actually citric acid and can harm teeth enamel; therefore avoid its direct and excess use.)
4. Terminalia Chebula or Harad:
For making fine powder of terminalia chebula, sieve it with thin cotton cloth after grinding and store into a jar.
5. Peel of Orange for Teeth Whitening:
Peel of Orange (santare ka chhilka) is a superb home remedy for teeth whitening. Rub powder of orange peel over your teeth every night before going to bed and continue it for several weeks. Fresh oranges do not remain available in market every time, so dry the peel of orange during season and store it into a jar.
All the above teeth whitening remedies are quite safe and have no side effect. But the results may vary from person to person. Too much use may harm the enamel of teeth.
